In 1864, 23-year-old Alfred Gratien turned a small plot of land near Saumur into the cornerstone of the Alfred Gratien winery. An old tunnel left over from limestone quarrying served as the wine cellar for his young business venture. Gratien started growing vines along the Loire and at the same time opened a second “compagnie” 320 km away in Champagne. Superior champagnes from Alfred Gratien have been produced in Epernay since 1864. These exceptional champagnes are produced each year from the best cuvées of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes, which have remained true to their tradition.

Bodegas Paniza is based in Paniza within Cariñena and specialises in the production of aged Crianza, Reserva, and Gran Reserva wines. Paniza has 2500 hectares of vineyards located at the foot of the Sistema Ibérico. These are the highest vineyards in the area at 850 metres above sea level. It was recently voted the best winery in Aragon and enjoys a BRC accreditation.

Since 1887, in the town of Moja in the Alt Penedés region of Spain, Cavas Hill has been producing one of Catalonia’s most famous specialities using traditional methods. The select products from Cavas Hill include Cavas Hill 1887 Brut, Cavas Hill 1887 Semi Seco, and Cavas Hill 1887 Rosado. These wines are made from the premium white grape varieties Xarel.lo, Macabeo, and Parellada, as well as the red grapes Grenache and Mouvèdre.
From a standing start in 2000 Cramele Recas has established itself as one of Eastern Europe’s most impressive wineries turning over €20m. Their 960 hectares harbour 19 grape varieties including traditional styles such as Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc as well as lesser known varietals such as Feteasca Regala. The winery has a capacity of 12m litres, created in a state-of-the-art production facility.
Creation was founded in 2002 by Jean-Claude and Carolyn on the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge. Jean-Claude’s experience of making wine in Switzerland translated perfectly to the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge where the cool climate lends itself to producing high quality international varietals. Creation were the first winery in area to produce a Bordeaux blend, single varietal Viognier and grow Grenache vines.
Deinhard’s home lies in the unique, cultural landscape of the Mosel valley and the Mittelrhein. The winery boasts over 200 years of experience in crafting the finest wines and best sparkling wines. While the Deinhard brand is mainly known for its range of sparkling wines in the German domestic market, its reputation in world markets is based primarily on its overall range of wines.
Prosecco epitomises the cool Italian lifestyle and Follador is undoubtedly one of the finest examples of this. Authentic Prosecco Superiore D.O.C.G. comes from North-east Italy, originating in the small areas of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, where the climate, soil and working practices combine to produce the finest Prosecco. Follador’s vines are nestled at the centre of the Conegliano and Valdobbiadene regions where tradition is at the heart of the production process. Since 1769 to this day the grape harvest is done exclusively by hand in this family-owned and run vineyard. Their attention to the smallest detail produces a wine of exceptional quality.
Henkell & Co
Adam Henkell founded a wine merchant in Mainz in 1832 and laid the foundations for today’s company, Henkell & Co. His grandson Otto Henkell achieved a breakthrough on the national and international markets with the creation of the Henkell Trocken brand at the end of the 19th Century. For decades now this timeless classic has been Germany’s best known sparkling wine brand and enjoys an excellent reputation worldwide.
G. H. von Mumm
The estate G.H. von Mumm has commited itself to the cultivation of traditional grape varieties and the production of high-quality, authentic, individualistic wines with regional character. The estate’s vineyard area comprises 65 hectares (161 acres) in 16 individual sites in the villages of Assmannshausen, Rüdesheim, Geisenheim, Johannisberg, and Winkel. In 2012 the traditional wine estate G.H. von Mumm became a member of the Association of German Quality and Prädikat Wine Estate (VDP = Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter e. V.). The VDP, the world’s oldest association of wine estates, has been committed to the correlation of producer, site, and quality - a trinity that has helped set high standards in German wine culture. Today, it comprises aaround 200 individualistic vintners who share a deep commitment to tradition and quality.
